Tubal Ligation Reversal With Dr. Monteith
I started performing tubal ligation reversal in 2008. After completing a weeklong microsurgical training course at the Cleveland Clinic and a six-month mentorship with Dr. Gary Berger, I began work full time as a tubal reversal surgeon. From 2008 to 2014, I performed over 1500 female sterilization reversal surgeries and have been responsible for a large number of babies born to mothers after tubal ligation reversal.
Reversing Tubal Ligation
I can reverse most tubal ligations. Over 98% of women who come to my center will have at least one fallopian tube reversed and approximately 2 out of every 3 of my patients will become pregnant after reversing their tubal ligation.
I have experience reversing all types of tubal ligations: tubal clips (Filshie and Hulka), tubal rings (Falope, Yoon, and silastic bands), monopolar and bipolar coagulation (tubal burning),
and ligation and resection type tubal ligations (Parkland, Pomeroy, Irving, Uchida).
I have also developed a specialization in removing and reversing the newest form of tubal occlusion, Essure sterilization. I was one of the first physicians in the world to successfully reverse Essure and Adiana sterilization. Since the initial case reports of successful reversal of hysteroscopic sterilization, I have performed over 150 Essure related surgeries.
Expertise in Reversing Sterilization
My initial expertise is in tubal ligation reversal. I worked alongside Dr. Berger for five years and in 2013, I became the Medical Director of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center.
In 2014, I moved the practice to Raleigh to provide better amenities to my patients. I used this opportunity to change the name of my practice to His Choice and to begin offering vasectomy and vasectomy reversal to men.
We now offer all our patients, both men and women, personal choices about how to best manage the complexity of their lives.
